Wanted Here – Ch.42 | KT OLLA

HOW did you get him here, Peter? I hope it is not by force.”

It was Carl who asked the lawyer this. And it was the same concern in his wife’s mind.

Yes, June had used what is called the Electronic Nose as the sensor she trained on the odor that she produced with her formula.

And then the scientist placed a miniature size of the eNose inside a drone modeled to look like a bee.

With this, she was able to scan through Cannon. And then zoomed in on her very target, the man who owned the bicycle.

Then afterward, she had handed the drone footage of Marcuz López to Pendulum Bros. And Peter Pedro had taken on the work from there.

Peter had swept to action with his team members and stalked López all over the school.

Pendulum spent half a day tailing the young chemist. They chose to make things quick, so they captured the man.

No, they didn’t know what they brought on themselves, or they wouldn’t have tried. For their warfare must now go his way.

So now, when Peter didn’t answer, Carl repeated his question.

“How did you get the boy here? Did you kidnap him?”

The man looked up and put up a smile. “It’s in a clean and respectable way.”

“Clean and respectable!” scoffed the engineer.

“Which among these do you mean is respectable here? You make us look like we’re criminals, honestly!

“We’ve been standing here for a bit of time. And I heard all your talk with that young man.

“Well, is it the coercion to talk? Or inducing him to comply by the anesthesia? Or what exactly looks decent and ethical here?

“Wait, are you trying to say that the way you brought him is what’s ethical?”

Pedro said nothing.

“See, I shouldn’t be cross with you, but I actually am! We’re civil beings for all it’s worth! But what kind of stooping is this?!

“If you’re going to say it’s the lawyer’s way, then I beg of you save it! You won’t be humoring me, if that’s what you think!”

Peter folded his arms and just smiled. He was going to say this was Pendulum’s way, but not anymore.

He saw Carl’s disappointment. He watched June’s eyes, too, and could tell she tried so much to hide things. For she wasn’t so pleased with him.

So Mr. Pedro folded his arms and smiled. And then, he dropped a small word.

“He has started talking. He confirmed he owned the bicycle.”

Carl and June were quite startled. They both hadn’t picked that from the conversation. So they heard this and their hearts leapt.

In a moment the couple became more desperate. They’d lost all that they’d got to battle Cannon. And here was a new witness in their grip.

The couple looked at each other just then, and felt awkward. Then they looked away and defended their thoughts.

June blanked her mind like her conscience was not scolding her. And Carl raised his head like his heart wasn’t condemning.

That moment the couple ditched everything that could hold them back and forged forward.

It was June who spoke now.

“Mr. Peter, can you assure us things won’t get any worse?”

Peter let his hands down. He knew he’d got her back.

“Oh, I’ve got everything well planned, ma’am. I’ll just ask the questions and return the guy to his place. So don’t worry at all.”

Carl breathed a sigh. “All right, can you take us in?”

“Just a minute,” whispered Peter. Then he hurried to his car, a big black van parked around the place.

In the meantime the young couple looked to each other for solace. But they felt pretty awkward to face their selves. They felt ashamed of stooping low.

Now they looked elsewhere.

June pitched her gaze on the building’s brick-wall facade. Carl on the other side looked back to see what Peter was bringing with him.

Neither of the couple was really looking to see something. They were looking to unsee them.

So, there behind June and in front of her husband, their lawyer opened his car and brought out two more masks from a bag.

He strode back to the couple and handed them over. He needed them to disguise, too.

Carl and June took the masks and stared at them a bit.

Peter tried to explain.

“He might be quite startled if he happens to know you. You guys are public figures. You’re a power couple in Jamaica, you know!”

Those words didn’t help the couple’s conscience, no. Rather it struck Carl and June that they were lacking.

Yet this was their only chance, they reasoned. So they grew more desperate.

That instant, the woman turned to her man for encouragement. So Carl nodded for them to go in.

June didn’t move but went on gazing. So her husband took the mask and shod his face.

That moment saw Carl looking callous. And June couldn’t stand to see him look like this.

So she shut her mind, masked herself too, and requested: “Will you take us in now?”

Pedro caught the question, and smiled. “Definitely.”

Now he masked his own face, too. And he led the Martinez to Marcuz.

Sons of the Flaming Throne 2 – Ch. 9 | KT OLLA

ABISHUM wasn’t done speaking. So she picked up on the matter as things were bound to change. She spoke: ‘See, it was a bedroom cry for Aleph. But not until the day things were shoved in her face… ‘And that day she gave up on hoping! ‘Well, what Aleph thought was the reason why Beth couldn’t marry, was different from what it was with people. ‘She used to think it was because there was no man in her house to ask the daughter from. As is our customary practice in Israel.  ‘But when a drunken man shoved it in her face one night, it hurt her too much what people say. ‘“No one will marry your daughter, woman! Why will anyone do? When death hides in her bosom like it hid in yours. Or why did your husband die? ‘“Look, if you don’t know it – your family is cursed! You only have one child in a nation of plenty. ‘“God has prospered Israel with many children like the sea sand. But what do your family bear? Only one! ‘“So, who will want your cursed daughter for his son to love? You really don’t...

MUSTARD I – Ch. 7 | KT OLLA

NOW it had rained all morning this day. And the sun was finally tearing through clouds to take the day’s glory. It was a brief break for the villages of Ede’s farmlands. As they rested from taking turns in harvesting yams. The town’s harvest season of yam and cassava tubers were in the rains... So they worked double to get them stored in barns and sold in markets – to avoid early rot in the wet weather. Yes, the crops were sources of flours and flakes for main foods. And several kinds of yam – like the ewùrà, ebòlò and the white yam, were also prepared as meals. So, everyone was out going about their own business those rest days... The farmers would go for a routine check on their farm every morning. And return earlier than the time to gather for talks by evening. Every evening, the men would sit under the shade of trees, and play board games amid talk and drinks. They’d talk about everything. From the ruler to their people. And to their wives and children. The young Moro chose to go a...

MUSTARD II – Ch. 8 | KT OLLA

NOW Oji and Daleka went in to meet their brother as his wife hurried out of the house. ‘You meet me well, brothers,’ Morrow smiled as he dished his food. ‘Care to join for breakfast?’ ‘Oh we just had ours, big bro,’ Oji answered for them. ‘Thanks for the offer.’ ‘In that case, will you—?’ ‘Oh never mind,’ their youngest smiled, ‘we can sit and talk while you go on eating. We also have things to share with you.’ He looked to his partner for agreement and Oji nodded back. Yes, it was the culture there for someone to invite their guest to table when the latter meets them dining. Then, it was the right ethic for the guest to decline with thanks. Morrow glanced at them. ‘Oh really? Have your seat then. ‘And meanwhile, you did a lot helping last night – I appreciate it. Please tell your wives, too, we’re grateful.’ ‘Well, that is nothing,’ Oji waved a hand. ‘We are grateful that you returned! That you came home alive!’ Morrow looked at them and smiled. He had just finished dishing, so he smi...
