Knighted Again – Ch.37 | KT OLLA

ZADEQUE’S family turned to the people and lifted their young prince up in the air.

The ovation was loud and it went unending.

Yet there was time for much more, so the people settled and watched the event.

Now Prince Zadeque and his wife Princess Yalowe bowed before the monarch.

The man bowed low on one knee while his lady went down on both, carrying the crown prince in her hands.

Then King Maqwela I of the Kingdom of Cape Islands took a wreath of fresh leaves and laurelled their heads in green.

He set the green to touch their ears and brows. It was the mark of honour in the Cape Island nation.

Now as the laureates were commanded to rise, the king declared:

‘Our ancestors say, “When the coconut bows in beach sand, it rises king of palms.

‘People of the nation of Cape Islands, I present you Prince Zadeque the Greater...

‘Son of the former King and father to the future one…

‘Lieutenant in the order of the Great Chaka and Guardian of the order of our heritage…

‘I announce to you the King Lieutenant of Basini Isle!’

The prince stood up with a gallant rise and bowed to the people.

The nation rose to applaud. The cheer was a steering one.

Now the ruler didn’t stop with the man. He went on with the rest.

‘Now the elders say, “A mother does not kneel in vain: if she bows at mill, she does to birth the future, too.”

‘So therefore, I present Mother of the Future, Guardian of the Crown Prince... the Princess Yalowe of Cape Islands!’

The cheers doubled as Yalowe stood to greet. She bore her baby in her arms.

The monarch paused, then named the last man.

‘Now, the fathers did say: “The sun will not die so long as it births day”…

‘So it is an honour that time will let us see the morrow born today.

‘So therefore, I announce the first son of the first prince that made his younger kin rule:

‘I present you the Heir to the Cape Island Throne, Protector of Heritage and the Future.

‘I pronounce Prince Zadeque the Younger as Crown Prince of our Kingdom!’

There was an earthshattering roar.

Now the audience applauded. And when they settled back again, they murmured about what they heard.

The food and drinks were arriving about that time. So the people had much time to talk.

‘Where was this Zadeque Senior since? How come the king never talked about him?’

‘Come, did the king banish that prince so he won’t usurp him? Maybe that man was on exile all these years.’

So some of the people sought confirmation. They wanted to learn about the family so they visited the palace website.

And there they found their answer. They saw things about the prince.

Within the past one year, the king had handed over the property belonging to his brother. The property was the prince’s share of their father’s wealth.

Yes, their late father Chaka-Hulu never left them a will. The man wanted his heir Maqwela to own his throne and then his wealth.

But when Maqwela realized this in the years of their illness, he went on to divide the inheritance in 60/40 – handing his brother the 60% while he took the other.

He also registered everything that accrued to Zadeque in the man’s name.

Now the people saw the man’s worth of property on the webpages…

And it wasn’t only the assets that they found there, they also saw pictures. Saw wedding pictures.

They saw the noble family in past pictures.

Truly in the previous year, Maqwela had wanted to throw a big wedding party for Zadeque, but he got a surprise as response.

It was the day he went to ask the prince for pardon. That day he didn’t expect the man to have wedded.

So he was glad that he was expecting a child. But Maqwela couldn’t process how Zadeque could have court a woman. Let alone take a beautiful bride home.

He was quite startled when he found out.

Yes, Zadeque let the ruler in on the secret privy to Yalowe and him alone. That he wedded the lady two months before.

That day King Maqwela was humbled beyond words. He scolded himself for his kind of heart.

Now, when the king saw he couldn’t do that to wish the couple luck, he took their permission to put their wedding portraits on website.

He asked to take pictures with their new family too when their baby was born.

The young family was the gracious one. They obliged to Maqwela’s requests…

And the photos were those ones found on the palace website.

So now, the nation confirmed it had this prince called Zadeque. Thus Prince Zadeque was officially revealed.

Now the people feasted on the news as they ate.

Then again their feast was interrupted by other news.

And it was about Sand and Muse.

MAQWELA caught the smile on Nile’s face as he turned back to him. He knew why the boy smiled, yet he liked him more. Those were some things of innocence that he missed. The king liked people who wouldn’t cower when he used power. Unlike how he’d tremble as a boy when his late father abused the right. Yes, he liked folks who still retained their peace as they grew. Like those cute youngsters listening to him. So the monarch resumed, but he preferred to go the earnest way. ‘Now like I said earlier, that nobody enters here except Maqwela passes them – you must also know that nobody hears the things I’ll be speaking now unless we tell them! ‘Now I know you’re smart enough to know what I said – and what I left unsaid!’ The duo braced up and gestured with a nod. They knew the weight of that sentence and were ready to keep the monarch’s secret. They knew they were about to hear a blast. And so they braced up for it. Right then the middle-aged heaved a deep breath, crossed his arms over his ch...

ABISHUM wasn’t done speaking. So she picked up on the matter as things were bound to change. She spoke: ‘See, it was a bedroom cry for Aleph. But not until the day things were shoved in her face… ‘And that day she gave up on hoping! ‘Well, what Aleph thought was the reason why Beth couldn’t marry, was different from what it was with people. ‘She used to think it was because there was no man in her house to ask the daughter from. As is our customary practice in Israel.  ‘But when a drunken man shoved it in her face one night, it hurt her too much what people say. ‘“No one will marry your daughter, woman! Why will anyone do? When death hides in her bosom like it hid in yours. Or why did your husband die? ‘“Look, if you don’t know it – your family is cursed! You only have one child in a nation of plenty. ‘“God has prospered Israel with many children like the sea sand. But what do your family bear? Only one! ‘“So, who will want your cursed daughter for his son to love? You really don’t...

Wanted Here – Ch.23 | KT OLLA

BEAKERS broke and crashed on the ground. So the splinters went littering the laboratory. Still the one who caused the damage only stood and watched… And then she walked out of the place without looking back. It was as if the 28-year-old didn’t cared a moment. But she cared too much she cried a bucket. June Martinez had stepped in her laboratory right behind her home. It was a facility sitting on an acre of land that equally hosted their large villa. The property was both home and office to the brilliant couple. They had their villa furnished with everything comfort. Then they got two labs built into a structure behind it. With only a glass partition in-between. Carl did his work in one part of the structure, while June used the other part as her laboratory. Now it’d been quite a while June had wanted to return to her lab. She once only talked about getting back and wouldn’t dare to step a foot in the lab. Then months passed and she made more progress. She got to put on her coat to retu...
