WADIBE was stuck on a place in his text, so he asked the lay reader to read through.
The lady went through the part again.
...that they should seek the Lord, in the hope they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.
The preacher resumed and blared out loud.
‘Yes, God wants you to only seek – because that kind starts from the heart!
‘For when you seek, you go beyond your efforts! You are yearning. You are longing to find. You are groping for Him!
‘It is with the heart that man seeks.’
He paused, then explained.
‘You see… a woman doesn’t search for the fruit of the womb. Because she almost cannot do anything about it.
‘A woman seeks the blessing which a union gives; and hopes, yearns and prays for it.
‘She seeks, because it is the gift of God!’
‘So also, God is spirit and those who reach to Him must do so with true hearts! He desires truth in the inward parts.’
He closed on this: ‘Our physical efforts that have no spiritual rooting is vain, as faith must begin from the heart.
‘Why, worship is merely ritual when it comes from the lips, rather than from the heart.
‘Again, service is eye service when we serve to make statement like the men of Athens...
‘Like in the case of Babel!
‘And Adam’s Babels and ladders can only lead down. Down to point zero!’
There were some laden sighs in the assembly, and Nile sat crushed by the words of the sermon.
The boy saw passion and power and fire in his father’s words. So he wanted to know the God his father knew.
That evening, the 15-year-old chose to let go of the grudge he had for the older man. For he knew the man didn’t know his thoughts, and yet he spoke to his heart.
Now Nile started to yearn for an essence in life and destiny. He started to approach worship the right way and seek to know God as Father.
Then divine providence reached down to earth and found him. For that year the Wadibes moved fully to Cape Islands.
It was for Nile to meet with destiny.
